Conversations regarding the Future of Greenland ice Sheet Science (FOGSS) will continue April 3-4, 2024, with a hybrid meeting hosted at the University of Idaho. Participants are encouraged to join us in Moscow, Idaho, although we make every effort to ensure a quality experience for those only able to attend virtually.
Registration
Please register for FOGSS 2024 at this link, also found in the website header. Registrations will be accepted after the priority deadline of March 15th, but email the organizers if after March 31st.
Thanks to generous support from our sponsors, NASA Cryospheric Sciences and NSF Office of Polar Programs, this workshop is available at no cost to participants. Limited travel support is available to participants—for first consideration, please register and express your interest in travel support by March 8th.
Components of the 2024 workshop
The agenda for the 2024 workshop includes the following elements:
Identification of a guiding, unifying goal for the community of Greenland Ice Sheet scientists
The development of actionable initiatives/missions, each targeted towards furthering the guiding, unifying goal
Short talks and a poster session for attendees to share their latest science
Opportunities to identify synergies among existing research projects, including fieldwork coordination, to leverage these existing efforts towards greater impact
An icebreaker and public plenary for the Moscow, ID, community on the night of Tuesday April 2nd
An excursion to get outside and enjoy the beauty of the Palouse with colleagues
On Friday, a series of short tutorials and workshops to develop facility with the latest software and tools to accelerate your science
Agenda
The workshop will kick off April 2nd with an evening, plenary lecture oriented towards the Moscow, ID, community and will include a social gathering for community members and FOGSS attendees following the plenary.
